Tonight Ben McLemore came to the Pizza Guys in Dixon to do a signing. McLemore replaced Isaiah Thomas as the official Pizza Guy after Thomas was traded earlier this year. It would be tough to fill IT's shoes, but if anyone could do it, Ben could. He's a great guy with a great personality.
Fans were waiting in line since 4pm to get an autograph from Ben. Here's a shot from the front of the line. These guys were definitely hyped up to meet their favorite player!
Fans brought all sorts of things for Ben to sign. Many fans brought jerseys, but there were plenty of photos, hats, and other items as well.
This young fan made a sign for Ben. Some VIP guests had a chance to be the first ones to meet Ben because they created their own signs for him. She gave this sign to Ben as a gift... what a cool thing to do!
The signing went from 6:30 to 7:30, and a stream of fans came non-stop throughout the hour. It was awesome to see the fans enthusiasm towards Ben!
Channel 13 news even came out to talk with Ben during his autograph session. He was interviewed for a segment showing on the 10 o'clock news. Ben's a pretty big deal.
Of course I had to get in on the action as well. After everyone had gotten their photo taken I asked Ben if we could get one together too. It was great fun covering this event for Ben. I'll see him play tomorrow at the arena against the dreaded Toronto Raptors. Huge thanks goes out to Pizza Guys for hosting such an amazing event!
