Kings v. Knicks 12.27.14

Tonight was awesome as I got two of my co-workers to come out to the game! Nicole and Aman got their chance to cheer on the Kings from section 122. I've been trying to get Aman to go to a game for the better part of a season and a half. Finally got her out!

Right outside of section 122 Jenn did a video spot. There's usually something going on here so when you come out to the arena head over to 122 and see what's up!

Sometimes it's thunder sticks and sometimes it's these balloons. Either way it's always great to see the fans waving them around when the opponent goes to the free throw line. Do they make a difference? I'm not sure, but it looks good on TV.

I spotted a unicorn in the Goon Squad area. The Goon Squad is where a lot of passionate Kings fans hang out. It's definitely the section to be at - ESPN Fan Hall of Famer Sign Lady has seats there.

This is the view from my spot on the floor. The action is close, fast, and furious. It's incredible to witness the speed and strength of these athletes. It's an awe-inspiring experience each and every time.

DeMarcus Cousins has been out quite a bit recently... and the team has struggled mightily without him. With DMC back in the line-up the Kings are a much more dangerous team.

Lots of players really stepped up for this one. Darren Collison was a huge difference maker as he hit critical baskets throughout the game. Here's a shot of him right after an important three pointer.

The biggest star by far on the Knicks is Carmelo Anthony. He's definitely skilled, but the Kings were able to handle him well.

I like this shot quite a bit. At times I will catch the in-house flash going off. Most of the time it creates an overexposed shot for me, but here it just overexposed the court which made for a pretty cool looking effect.

This was a fun game to be at as the Kings had a hold on most of the game. The Knicks fought back and forced overtime, but the Big Cuz took over and did not let the Knicks get a victory tonight.

The Kings Dancers got in a couple of routines tonight, but these ladies also got their groove on. They provided plenty of sass as they hit the court and showed the fans what they got!

Taro of Mikuni Sushi in Sacramento was courtside to see this game. You might remember the viewing party at the midtown location last week. The SKD gave him a cowbell and he was able to ring it proudly. Taro is a huge Kings fan and even has a roll named after No. 15. If you live in Sacramento, you owe it to yourself to get to a Mikuni's location ASAP!

Here's a happy fan... he won the Toyota Hot Shot challenge. He had to make six baskets in a minute in order to win an iPad mini. Well... obviously he did it! Excited? YUP!

After the game I went to share some of my photos with Katie from Kings.com. Her, Andrew, and Jason work hard each and every day to provide the fans with Kings web content. MAJOR props go out to these guys.

DeMarcus talk to Kayte Christensen about the victory after the game. December was a crazy month of home games. It's too bad that DMC was out for many of these games and the Kings fell in the standings. The Kings will on the road for the next few games. I'll be watching on TV. Can't wait to get back to the arena when the Kings get back in January.

Kings v. Suns 12.26.14

This post is coming a bit late as I've been trying to move houses and keep up with the Kings at the same time! It's definitely been hectic for me. On Friday, the Phoenix Suns came to town to take on the Kings. My friend Alex took his girlfriend out to see all the action!

Before the game began Isela from SKD came out to sing the national anthem. I've seen her do this a few times already, and each time she has done a fabulous job of it. I wouldn't be opposed if she did it at every game. Ariana from SKD is quite the singer as well. Maybe they could trade off nights.

Tonight would be a big game as former King favorite Isaiah Thomas came back to the arena for the first time as an opposing team member. The fans cheered for him... at least at first!

Derrick Williams had a very strong game and was able to contribute in many ways. His ability to finish off with big dunks really helped the Kings get their energy up.

Ben McLemore also continued to impress - it has been awesome to see this young player begin to find his place in the NBA.

The Kings were able to keep the game pretty close for 3 quarters, but the Suns ended up pulling away in the fourth. Despite the super efforts by BMac and DWill, the Kings fell to the Suns.

Though the night was a difficult one for the Kings, the Kings Dancers still were able to perform their routines to perfection. I like this unique moment I caught Corina in during one of the SKD dances.

Tonight the tricycle races were on! My season ticket holder section, 122, was competing. Though I wasn't there, I still was rooting for this particular contestant. Guess what... he won! My entire section went home with free tacos!

Slamson found Amare Stoudemire at the Kings game tonight. It's past Christmas, but it looks like Slamon was still the holiday mood. I'm pretty sure he didn't get a kiss from Amare though.

Viewing Party at Mikuni's 12.23.14

Tonight Jenn and I went to Mikuni's to celebrate her birthday! Mikuni's also happened to be hosting a Kings viewing party as well, so there was absolutely no excuse not to be there! I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant, so I'm glad we were able to make it out to dinner.

Cassie and Kat of the SKD were representing the Kings for the viewing party. They went around the dining area handing out free Kings gear to the diners. The Kings also brought some autographed items to the restaurant for a free raffle - there was even a Darren Collison signed jersey up for grabs.

Jenn and I ended up getting the 2 for $45 dinner special - a very good deal, actually. But I went ahead and ordered the DMC roll on top of that. This roll is named after DeMarcus Cousins and contains white tuna, lobster tempura, crab, and avocado. It's a big roll and very delicious. I'd recommend it! It usually costs $15 (DMC's jersey no.), but they had it for half off during the viewing party. Winning!

Check out my review of Mikuni's on Yelp... and friend me on Yelp as well! Here's the review: CLICK HERE.

Kings v. Lakers 12.21.14

Whenever the Kings play the Lakers it's a big deal here in Sacramento. I was able to snag a few tickets to this game and invite a few friends out. The seats were in the upper level, but they still provided an excellent view of the game action.

My friend Alex sat in my season ticket spot. As you can see he is a big Lakers fan. Does that cause a rift between us? Well, let's juts say that good thing Alex is such a good guy (aside from his team preference!).

Caught Scott Fresh chatting with KHTK1140 radio personality Charmichael Dave on the court before the game. It's always fun to see these two. And to Scott Fresh... THANK YOU for the sweet gift!

The fans were given BEAT LA signs and noise makers. The arena was packed today and it was thunderously loud. There were many fans of the Kings AND Lakers in the house today.

After the first quarter Katie Nicholson and Kings Community surprised kids with a bike give-away. As you know, the Kings have been doing so much to help the community this month. Really amazing.

Santa came out during a time out and showed everyone in Sacramento that he can jump just as well as any NBA player. Just check out this move above!

It's pretty awesome to be able to see Kobe live in action. Last season he was out for many games so I didn't actually get to see him play. He'll be a Hall of Fame player for sure.

Ben McLemore had the difficult assignment of guarding Kobe for much of the game, but he did a very good job contesting shots and staying on him. That couldn't have been an easy job!

It's not often, but sometimes the Big Cuz loses the headband. Here he is about to drive into the paint on an offensive possession. Cousins was almost unstoppable today, the Lakers just didn't have any answer for him.

I loved his shot of Jason Thompson throwing down a hard dunk early in the game. This was definitely a message to the Lakers that the Kings came to play tonight.

The Kings dancers were back in Santa outfits... but they were different than from the last game! They definitely looked really good out there as they performed their two routines.

The Kings got the victory today and stopped the losing streak that hey had been on. It's been a tough few games but hopefully the Kings will get back on track. A difficult challenge awaits on Monday as the Kings go to Golden State to play the Warriors.

Jason Thompson Shopping Spree 12.20.14

I was pretty free tonight so I decided to cover Jason Thompson's Christmas shopping spree. It was at the Wal-Mart in Natomas just like Ben and DeMarcus' sprees were. I'm becoming quite a regular at this store and the events here!

Katie and Andrew from Kings social media were volunteers to help the children shop. Both work super hard and are the best in the business for sure! It's awesome that they took the time out to participate and help out the community.

I was surprised to see Kayte Christensen at this event! She was hanging out for a bit but left early. I wanted to say hi to her, but I didn't get the chance to. Maybe next time!

Lots of kids came out to this event, and JT took the time to talk to and take pictures with all of them. Check out JT's spiffy outfit too! He was definitely the best dressed out of all the players who hosted a shopping spree.

Check out this cool photo that he kids got today. JT signed quite a few of these for the children who came out to participate. That's a pretty cool memorabilia item on top of all the things they got with their spree money.

Andrea, Ariana, Brittany, and Molly from SKD made it out to this event to shop with the kids too. They were rockin' some pretty sweet white jackets.

Wow. Look at this shopping card full of stuff! This kid looks like he spent his shopping money wisely. I'm not sure what else you could fit in that thing!

A huge thanks has to go out to Jason Thompson and the entire Kings organization for hosting this shopping spree today. The kids had a blast! Keep paying it forward!

Kings v. Bucks 12.18.14

Tonight marked the long awaited return of DeMarcus Cousns to the Kings line-up. The Kings have had huge struggles winning games without him. All Kings fans hope that his return to the court means a return to winning as well.

The Kings took on a depleted Bucks team. Players on the Bucks have been injured and/or suspended for this game. The Kings should have been able to capitalize on those factors, but in the end our guys lost this game by one point. So frustrating!

Even though the Kings lost this game the Big Cuz looked amazing in his return. It was hard to tell hat it was his first game back from a long illness. His impact was immediately felt.

I was super happy to be able to snag one of these DMC to NYC headbands. These headbands are to show support to Boogie's bid to get into the NBA All-Star game this year in New York City.

The Dancers were in full holiday effect tonight as they wore Santa outfits during their routines. It would have been amazing to get some closer shots of them, but I did the best from my vantage point during this game.

Here's a closer one with Jenna and Andrea as they were walking the concourse during the first half of the game. Two of my favorite SKD for sure!

I noticed these sweet looking Kings basketballs in the team store. I am very tempted to pick one up as these look very unique - love the hardwood floor design on them!
