Tonight the Kings played the Mavs during one of the Legends nights at the arena. Legends nights are all about honoring past Kings. The SKD were ready for the night as they sported these awesome retro outfits for one of their performances.
Before the game Kings season ticket holders had the opportunity to see a question and answer session with the two Kings legends being honored tonight - Brian Grant and Mitch Richmond. This Q & A event is one of the perks of getting season tickets. It's cool that season ticket holders had early access to the arena and got to see this unique gathering.
It was a lot of fun to hear Mitch Richmond recount stories of his time as a King. I found out that he was quite the jokester as a player. He was able to do voice impersonations of many people! It's this kind of personal and insider stuff that makes these events fun!
Brian Grant is a player battling Parkinson's Disease. He's been an advocate for those suffering from this terrible illness since being diagnosed with it himself. I am amazed at how strong he has been through this difficult time, and I hope that a cure is able to be found sooner rather than later.
Though not a Kings legend... Bill Russell was an NBA legend... and he came to this game! Russell sat next to Kings owner Vivek Ranadive during the game. Quite a few players came over to meet Russell and shake his hand.
Reggie Evans was not able to play in this game so he decided to make his impact in terms of clothing style. I actually really like the look! So suave!
I've heard quite a few national anthems being sung this season, but tonight's rendition had to be one of my favorites. This large men's choir delivered an anthem with multiple harmonies. It was beautifully sung. Great job guys!
The game played out similarly to many of the Kings games that have happened recently. The Kings hung close for a while during the first half and then let the game slip away. Again the Kings found themselves down by over 20 points to their opponent. It was pretty frustrating, and the fans were letting their thoughts be known as the team struggled. After the game DeMarcus had some strong thoughts. I'm really hoping things turn around soon.
Although the team has been on the downslide, the dancers have been totally giving it their all on the court. You've got to love the energy that dancers like Isela put out. The SKD always lift the spirit of the fans.
The dunk team was also in effect this evening. This was one of my favorite shots tonight. You can really tell how high up he is as he's about to thrown down the rock.
Let's hope for a better game next time! The Suns will be in town on Sunday, and we'll see former Kings favorite Isaiah Thomas back in his former house. Should be a good one!
