Roldie and I went to this early evening game against the T-wolves. The 6:00 start time is nice because it let's all of us get home just a bit earlier! There's work on Monday to consider! This is also the second to last game of the season. Man... I can't believe this basketball season has gone by so quickly!
I was surprised to see these Shaq bobble heads on sale at the Kings stores on the concourse. They had a game night special price of just $10. I've actually been wanting one of these. Some fans got one as a special ticket promotion, and season ticket holders could use points to get one... so I thought I missed my opportunity. Guess not! I picked one up and now it sits on my desk.
The Kings were promoting heart health at the arena today so the special color of the night was red. Scott Fresh totally got into it by wearing a red tie and this stunning red jacket. He's looking mighty dapper in it!
A lot of people come out to the weekend games. The concourse was packed with fans early on. Often times the later weekday games are a little less crowded. The arena was definitely abuzz with activity today.
I was really excited to see Isaiah Thomas back in the Kings line-up for this game. He had been out with a thigh injury for quite a few games. Some were speculating that the Kings would sit him for the rest of the season. But he came out and played today... and did really well.
The Kings introduction is always a great time. Rudy Gay did not play in this game as he was having some back issues. Derrick Williams got this nod for the starting line-up.
This was something I totally didn't expect - it's the SKD in a joint venture with the Kings drum corps. They were all clad in red and put a whole routine together. It was cool to see something a little different today.
The fans loved this. We had a wiener dog race on the court during halftime. Most of the dogs knew exactly where to go, but a few decided to go in the direction they wanted to. Some really funny stuff going on here.
The second half of the halftime entertainment featured these Sikhs. They were clad in a rainbow of colors and danced on the court. They had a ton of supporters in the stands - and they were going nuts cheering them on! These Sikhs were very entertaining as they danced to some modern dance music.
Slamson was adorned in his retro Kings gear tonight. He was up to all of his usual shenanigans as he skating all around the arena.
Ray McCallum did a great job backing up Isaiah tonight. It would be awesome to have both him and IT in the lineup next year working together.
DeMarcus Cousins had a huge game for the Kings, but it was marred a bit by his 16th technical foul of the season. That foul would give him an automatic next game suspension. I really thought this foul was just something that happened in the spirit of an intense game. It's too bad he got T'd up. Following the T, the Big Cuz pulled it together and responded very well to finish the game strong.
